The mission of the Mary Ellen Strong Foundation is to strengthen the spirit, the mind, the family and the community by providing mental health services to vulnerable, underserved communities.
MISSION
The mission of the Mary Ellen Strong Foundation (MESF) is to promote mental health in underserved communities. Increasing access to mental health treatment can transform individuals, families, and communities. MESF strives to increase the number of licensed mental health providers who are dedicated to meeting the needs of underserved communities through our innovative programming and by providing information and resources.
VISION
In order to achieve our mission we are currently focusing on supporting African American mental health providers in Minnesota and Wisconsin. We support the development of graduate students interested in careers as mental health professionals through our Mental Health Professional Development Program. To help increase career longevity for those working in underserved communities, we have developed wellness retreats specifically designed for mental health providers in order to reduce/prevent compassion fatigue and burnout. Finally, our website provides resources and culturally relevant content.
